Montclair State University is delighted to announce the 3rd Annual Singing Voice Science Workshop, running from June 7-9, 2017!

The Singing Voice Science Workshop is a friendly and inviting gathering of singing voice professionals who desire to become more familiar and comfortable with the science of the singing voice. Egos and know-it-all attitudes are left at the door as everyone, from the advanced scientist or practitioner to the curious novice, is welcome to learn about and explore in depth the exciting world of the science of singing.

This workshop is for teachers of singing and voice pedagogy as well as for professional singers, students of singing, and speech language pathologists who desire to know more about singing voice science. Whether you’d like to brush-up your pedagogy and science skills, learn the basics of acoustics, or familiarize yourself with VoceVista, this is the workshop for you.

Laurier Conservatory’s First Ever Music Theatre Academy

Beckett School LogoThe Laurier Conservatory is thrilled to announce that registration is now open for the very first WLU Music Theatre Academy. This three-week professional training program is designed for classically-trained singers who want to hone their skills in acting, dance and belt/mix vocalization.

Successful applicants will attend classes Monday through Friday in acting improvisation and text, Alexander Technique, Feldenkreis and appropriate dance styles. Regular lessons, coachings and master classes with crossover voice teachers will develop healthy belt/mix techniques. Instructors will join us from The Stratford Festival, Sheridan College, WLU’s Faculty of Music, and elsewhere.

The 11th season of Highlands Opera Studio will take place this coming July 31 through August 31.

Highlands Opera Studio LogoNow casting for COSI FAN TUTTE (principals, covers, and chorus), and WIIKONDIWIN (a new Canadian Opera by First Nations composer Barbara Croall). Alternatively, singers may be chosen for our Independent Study, or Apprentice Program (for gifted singers between 19-25).
