NATS Ontario is thrilled to welcome leading CCM & Music Theatre styles educator, Matthew Edwards to our upcoming PD Day on Saturday, May 6, 2017! Over the course of three sessions & a master class, Matt will address technical & stylistic ingredients in CCM & Music Theatre styles, including:

how to prevent vocal injury
how to alter resonance in CCM styles
stylistic differences between musical theatre eras & styles
how current audio technology affects our perception of the human voice on recordings.

2017 Vocal Intensive Camp — Royal Conservatory School

The Royal Conservatory School is thrilled to present the 2nd Annual Vocal Performance Intensive Camp. This year there are two intensive sessions: a one-week intermediate and a two-week advanced camp for singers aged 14 to 18. Royal Conservatory School - vocal intensive camp

Join young artists from across North America in this unique and immersive learning experience. Leading professionals and music educators provide daily lessons and coaching, as well as classes in acting, movement, diction, and musicianship skills. Students are encouraged to apply for one or both camps.

The Faculty of Music at WLU seeks a full-time instructor in Applied Studio Voice for a two-year Limited Term Appointment for the academic years 2017-19, beginning July 1, 2017 (conditional upon budget approval). Duties will include private studio voice instruction and master class; other areas of the candidate’s expertise may be considered. Administrative duties and all other associated Faculty responsibilities shall be expected.

Singing Voice Science Workshop

Montclair State University is delighted to announce the 3rd Annual Singing Voice Science Workshop, running from June 7-9, 2017!

The Singing Voice Science Workshop is a friendly and inviting gathering of singing voice professionals who desire to become more familiar and comfortable with the science of the singing voice. Egos and know-it-all attitudes are left at the door as everyone, from the advanced scientist or practitioner to the curious novice, is welcome to learn about and explore in depth the exciting world of the science of singing.

This workshop is for teachers of singing and voice pedagogy as well as for professional singers, students of singing, and speech language pathologists who desire to know more about singing voice science. Whether you’d like to brush-up your pedagogy and science skills, learn the basics of acoustics, or familiarize yourself with VoceVista, this is the workshop for you.

Laurier Conservatory’s First Ever Music Theatre Academy

The Laurier Conservatory is thrilled to announce that registration is now open for the very first WLU Music Theatre Academy. This three-week professional training program is designed for classically-trained singers who want to hone their skills in acting, dance and belt/mix vocalization.

Successful applicants will attend classes Monday through Friday in acting improvisation and text, Alexander Technique, Feldenkreis and appropriate dance styles. Regular lessons, coachings and master classes with crossover voice teachers will develop healthy belt/mix techniques. Instructors will join us from The Stratford Festival, Sheridan College, WLU’s Faculty of Music, and elsewhere.

St. Andrews Arts Council in New Brunswick is now accepting applications for the 2017 Opera Workshop and Vocal Techniques Workshop. The registration deadline for both workshops is April 5, 2017.

Opera Workshop Details

Over the course of the past twenty-two years, this workshop has gained a national reputation as the place for singers to come for an intense, artistic growth experience. Our workshop seeks to bridge the gap between voice student and young professional.

Highlands Opera Studio 2017 Auditions Deadlines Are Approaching

The 11th season of Highlands Opera Studio will take place this coming July 31 through August 31.

Now casting for COSI FAN TUTTE (principals, covers, and chorus), and WIIKONDIWIN (a new Canadian Opera by First Nations composer Barbara Croall). Alternatively, singers may be chosen for our Independent Study, or Apprentice Program (for gifted singers between 19-25).
