Renée is a vibrant performing arts professional with twenty-five years of diverse performing, teaching, writing, and directing experience from the stage to film and television. Creative opportunities as a performer, teacher, and director have taken Renée all over the UK, London’s West End and off West- End, Europe, Canada, Korea, and Central Asia. As a dual citizen of the UK and Canada, Renée spent most of her early years as a professional performer in the UK (D’Oyly Carte, English Touring Opera, Arcola Theatre, Edinburgh Fringe, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Linbury, Canterbury Cathedral) while also enjoying a position on the voice faculty at Canterbury Christ Church University; where she had studios in both the classical and musical theatre/CCM music degree programs. Recent highlights have included being an RBC Artist Mentor with the Association for Opera in Canada, her work as a teaching artist (director/ dramaturg/ devising) with the Canadian Opera Company, coaching/delivering masterclasses and talks at the National Opera Studio (London, England), Summer Opera Lyric Theatre, University of Toronto, Hart House Theatre, University of Western Ontario, This season sees Renée returning to the Canadian Opera Company as a core faculty member on the Intensive for Emerging Artists, teaching and coaching an international roster of professional and aspiring singing actors, adjudicating, launching her new class ‘The Drop In’, and collaborating on several projects as director and dramaturg with Grand River Opera, University of Toronto, and developing several new works with The Cultureland Collective.
